Flat moves left. Sharp moves right. When the pattern stands still, that partial is in tune. Read each ring independently, so an in-tune fundamental never hides a drifting octave.

A handpan note has a life after the strike. The spectrum shows what is ringing; the waterfall shows how it changes as the sound decays.

Follow the partials

Watch the fundamental, octave and compound fifth at once, with separate cents readouts.

Look between the peaks

Inspect a frequency, zoom into the spectrum, or follow a resonance through the waterfall.

Keep the wobble

See the movement from neighbouring notes. The tuner does not average away the detail you are listening for.

Is PanStrobe only for handpans?

It is built around handpan tuning, especially the fundamental, octave and compound fifth. The chromatic tuner can also follow other pitched instruments. Pro lets you choose different partial templates.

What happens after the free trial?

The first 8 days unlock Pro without starting a paid subscription. After that, you can keep using the single-band Free tuner, or choose a monthly or yearly Pro subscription in the app. Any subscription free trial is a separate App Store offer, shown before you confirm a purchase.

Does it work offline? Where does my audio go?

Tuning works fully offline once the app is installed. Audio is analysed on your device and is not uploaded. You do not need an account. An internet connection is needed to download the app or buy or restore a subscription.

Can I use it on my Mac?

Yes, on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later and macOS 12 or later. PanStrobe runs as the iPad app on Apple silicon. Intel Macs can use the browser version in a supported browser with microphone access.

Can I try it before downloading?

Open the web tuner, allow microphone access, and play a note. The native app is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Mac.

How do I get help or send feedback?

See the support page or write to play@panlab.hk. We read feedback as makers and as the people building the app.
