PanStrobe — Support
Panlab Limited, Hong Kong
PanStrobe is a harmonic strobe tuner built for handpan makers and tuners: it shows the fundamental and its partials at once, as real strobe motion, so you can hear and see what a note is doing.
Getting started
- Tap Start tuning and allow microphone access.
- Strike a note. With AUTO on, PanStrobe follows the note you played; tap AUTO to lock onto one note instead.
- Each strobe ring is one partial — the fundamental (1×), the octave (2×) and the twelfth (3×). A ring that drifts left is flat, one that drifts right is sharp. When a ring stands still, that partial is in tune.
- Use ÷2 / ÷3 / ÷5 to slow the strobe down when a note is far off, and spectrum to see the whole harmonic picture.
Common questions
The app says it needs the microphone
Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and turn PanStrobe on, then return to the app and tap Start tuning. The app's own error card has a button that takes you straight there.
The reading jumps around
That is usually real: adjacent notes on a handpan ring sympathetically, and a tuner that averages the wobble away hides information you need. PanStrobe deliberately shows it. Damp the neighbouring notes with your palm to isolate the one you are working on, and skip the first moment after the strike — every struck note glides in pitch as it settles.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID and open PanStrobe — Pro restores itself automatically. If it doesn't, open the Pro panel and tap Restore purchases.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → PanStrobe. You can switch between monthly and yearly, or cancel, there. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.
What does the free version include?
Every install starts with a full-featured 8-day trial. After that the free tier keeps the three-band strobe, chromatic note selection and automatic note detection — enough to tune with. Pro adds the spectrum analyser, the band editor and multi-partial templates, and the pitch pipe.
Does my audio leave the device?
No. All analysis happens on your device and the app works fully offline. See our Privacy Policy.
Reporting a bug
Please include your device model, iOS version, and what you were tuning. If you can, open Diagnostics at the bottom of the tuner screen and tell us what it says — it reports the real microphone route and sample rate, which explains most odd readings.
